Perhaps we have muddled up God’s Word over the years to the point where all we do is offer philosophical assumptions, legal harangues, and traditional nonsense to those in our communities who are seeking Jesus; plain, simple, honest, and truthful dialog will always be important to those who are stumbling blindly in their search for truth.
When an honest man or woman looks for answers concerning their relationship to God, they often encounter about as many opinions as people they ask. It’s confusing to the seeker of truth to be bombarded on every side by often totally opposite scriptural interpretations concerning their salvation. One preacher tells them they have to be baptized to be saved; another preacher that baptism is only a necessary formality to join their church; yet another preacher tells them that everything they have been told is wrong, and baptism isn’t even important.
We intellectually quibble over the minutest of detail in scripture, but often seem perplexed to offer the gospel in its simplicity. As long as churches disagree, and are confused on salvational issues, our influence on the non-Christians in our communities will continue to be negligible.
Larry I believe you and I are fortunate to have been born when we were. Things were simpler when we were young. I try my best to give my two children and my grandchildren a taste of that life, especially the simple church life. God never intended in my opinion that we have master degrees in order to understand his word. My opinion again is that church has become a business “Money and self importance” we place to much importance on a deploma today, if they have that paper surely they know of what they speak. Not so schooling gets us started life educates us. how many other professions are there where you walk in show a depioma and start at the head table.
I know of only two jobs that allow that, and they are really to important for that. Teaching the bible, and teaching our children. odd that teaching needs no experence is’n it.?

That’s why God gives us the “Spirit of truth,” to interpret His Word through the heart of Jesus Christ. It’s just that the “traditions of men” have interpreted it for us, and we have accepted that interpretation hands down according to our denominational persuasion. So, they really are all opinions if the Spirit hasn’t been consulted. I began to see this confusion and be affected by it long ago. I got out of the fray of ideas and began to ask God Himself-”What did you mean, God, when you had man write this?” Sometimes He gives me a glimpse of His intents and purposed, sometimes He waits, and sometime He doesn’t. I am learning to be content with what He choosed to reveal to me. I am seeing that He mostly want to reveal His love more and more and to conform me to His image so that I can be a light of the love of Jesus in this world, and be to true church (His Body) will I am yet here.

Laymond…
“Larry I believe you and I are fortunate to have been born when we were. “
You mean I’m not the only one born in the 1800’s!
Simple lifestyles are at a premium in todays world, and money does appear to grease-the-wheel for a lot of people who seem to think God is something archaic, and of little importance when compared to getting ahead in the marketplace

Patti…
Thanks for dropping by and leaving the great comment.
I seem to always be asking God why? When it’s all boiled down I just have faith that what God says, and what He does is always right, and if I differ, I’m simply wrong.
Being raised most of my life in the ultra conservative branch of the Church of Christ it has been a real struggle to toss away large portions of what I ALLOWED myself to believe. If we simply take it to the Lord, and ignore all the little pet slogans, and man-made traditions tossed our direction, we can come to a lot better understanding of God’s plan in our lives.

Nice new digs Bro.
Even amongst us Christians it’s confusing. I wonder if God has done a bit of head shaking at us.

Milly…
I’m sure He’s shook His head, and even rolled His eyes up a few times at some of the stupid things I’ve done, and unfortunately, continue to do at times.
